What is Google My Business? Google My Business is Google s customized, one-of-a-kind business tool to manage how a business will appear and perform in both the search engine and local search results. It is a vital tool to learn and optimize how your website appears in 

Maps, Knowledge Graph, Google+ and organic search results. Local SEO optimization refers to optimizing your website or blog for users searching in your local area. This will make it easy for your users to find you in their searches. 

How do I get started? To get started, register your domain name. Once that’s done, log in to your Google account. In the left navigation panel, scroll down to Google My Business and click “register now.” You’ll then be asked to create a business description that explains your business in a few sentences. 

Google has a great way to find local businesses. If you have a blog or are trying to optimize your current blog for local search, Google will love it. For example, if you own a fitness gym, you can write articles and links about your gym on your Google My Business page, and Google will syndicate the content across its many websites, which includes YouTube, Google+ Local, and your own personal website. The great thing about this is that, even if you aren’t using Google+ Local, you can still use YouTube, Google+ Local, and your own website for local SEO. 

Google+ Local are another great way to use Google My Business for local businesses. Google+ Local allow business owners to share reviews about their local businesses on the front page of Google. Businesses can use a Google+ Local account for uploading videos, images, and photos related to their business. When people search for a local business using Google+ Local, Google will automatically detect the businesses information and upload it into its Knowledge Panel. 

Google My Business and Knowledge Panels go hand in hand. To encourage visitors to open their My Business dashboard, make sure that there are clear instructions and options in the bottom right corner. Answer all your existing questions right away. This will bring up the knowledge panel. If you do not see your query there, try searching for more information. Google has an amazing tool for showing you more information about a topic. 

Another quick way to use Google My Business for your local SEO is to get a custom background for your business listing. You can easily change the background image in your dashboard. There is also an option to turn off the image display on your dashboard. If you have any questions, you can just click on “Help” and you will find some helpful documentation about using Google Knowledge Panels and customizing your Google My Business page.

One last thing to mention when starting to use My Business for local SEO is to make sure you choose a great background image for your dashboard.
